The cost of bandwidth in South Africa

Shocking that is all I can say. Somewhere along the line some one is making big bugs out of bandwidth in South Africa. It is not necessarily the company who does my hosting who are the culprits it might be someone higher up in the chain. Any way a fact is a fact, we in South Africa are paying too much for hosting.

Here is an example what I am paying for hosting a website on a local server.

Monthly domain and database hosting is R313.50 and that is for 2500 meg. only. When I exceed this I have to pay additional for the hosting. Depending on the traffic my websites attracts, it can ad up to double the amount of my initial monthly hosting costs. But normally it is between R150.00 and R250.00 per month. So generally speaking the cost to host my website is between R463.00 and R563.00 per month. So what I am telling you that my hosting for my website will cost me between R5556.00 and R6756.00 per year.
I am aware that I can get much cheaper hosting; in fact making use of Hosting South Africa will only cost me R360.00 per year and that includes unlimited use of bandwidth.
I hope I got you thinking about your hosting expenses. I am sure when I call this situation a shocking one, I am not exaggerating.
