The Blogroll is a list of links to other websites, specially blogs. I like to list there sites which deal with the same or similar topics as I do on my blog and whith whom I exchange a link. That means, I list sites which put the link to my blog also on to their blogrol. (Just click ’1′ as per screenshot below.)

1. From your Dashboard select Blogroll and delete all default entries! These sites don’t link back to us.

2. Add your Links

Click on add links (3) and there fill in the links to your preferred contextual site.

Example: create a link to YORGOO Blaster and you will get a link back (send a mail to yorgo (at) yorgo.net, subject: YORGOO Blaster Link and paste your URI into the mail.

The game consists in linking to sites which are ‘stonger’ than yours. Profit to link also to YORGOOpublishing and send a mail as per above.

Forget about Link relationship and advanced settings t this stage.

The categories have two purposes: first they help us sort the content and second, their slug will be part of the URIs of each article; these slogs will also be translated into meta tags in the header of each article. Therefore they help us reaching our targets on Google.

1. From your Dashboard select ‘Manage’ and then ‘Categories’

2. Create Categories

You may create multiple categories in function of your targeted key-words. Here we create a category for ‘Contributors’ to our Site, to which we can drive posts originating from external sources.

Please note: The Category Name will appear on your Blog Page under categories, while the slug can be a completely different word which will be picked up by Robots. This means: The Visitor will see a Category Name appealing to him, while the slug is supposed to appeal to Google.

In most cases Name and Slug will be the same and by default the Script will create an identical slug if you omit filling in this field; the same applies if you create categories on the fly from your post or page editor or when you import posts which create corresponding categories automatically.

In short: don’t worry about it.

Discussion settings help you to manage the comments posted as a reaction to your articles. We will put spam filters in place; on the below page however we create a second security, which consists mainly in filtering comments, namely by the experience we made with an author and by number of links. My preferred settings are: I want to moderate every comment containing a link.

The permalinks settings will determine how the URIs are created. Contrary to default settings we are not emphasizing the date but the contextual key-words.

Options (Setings)

General Options deal with some basic settings of your site. The most important issue here are the Blog Title and the Tagline: make them your primary and secondary key-word.

- Weblog Title: Put your primary key-word here

- Tagline: put your secondary key-word here

- WordPress Address: The URL of your Site

- Blog Address: Same as above 

- Email: you may create an address for the blog, i.e. blog@smartbidtips.com for example.

- Membership: tick both boxes

- New User default Role: Select Subscriber

- Time in the Weblog: adjust in function of the time difference between UTC and your time.

- Default Date Format: leave as is

- Default Time Format: leave as is

- Weeks in calender should start: Monday for me (It only matters if you display a calender which we don’t on YORGOO Blaster.)

Basically the configuration is similar to a WordPress CMS to start with. YORGOO Blaster is built on a earlier version of WordPress and can therefore be optimized like WordPress.

1. Edit the admin User:

 - Select Users and edit: admin

- enter your name and email as well as your main web site URL

- write a few lines about yourself into the Field ‘Bio’

- make sure you have entered a password you remember

- save

- scroll down and select your Public Display Name (by default it’s admin but you can modify now).
